We spent Jan. 12th (er…13th) – 15th in San Antonio again for the first of three Bridal Showers for Sally. We were supposed to arrive on the 12th, but weather in Dallas and American Airlines decided to get us there late, cancel any new flights and make sure we were so inconvenienced that we had to “sleep” in the DFW airport. We made friends and found some broken cots to lay on, but clearly, it was not the same as sleeping in a bed, in a warm house, with family around us. The airport did offer pillows at 3:30am and managed to buff the floors while we all tried to rest our eyes, but it didn’t quite make up for the irritation.

While the airline told us the earliest we could get out was at 7pm the next day, we were determined to get out earlier. While most would believe sleeping at the airport as misfortune, I look at it the other way around. When the airport re-opened at 4:30am, we were first on line to try and get out of there. It worked and we made it to San Antonio just in time for the shower.

Sally had a great time hanging out with the girls, seeing some friends for the first time in way too long and we both enjoyed the company of all who made it.

We also got some amazing gifts for the wedding, which is awesome! Thanks so much everyone! They will all be put to good use.

We decided to close out a great 2006 by spending two days straight in malls…with about a gazillion other people. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait in long lines or trade punches over the last pillows available in the store. Instead, we were armed with scanning guns and made our way through three stores to set up our gift registry. All three stores, Restoration Hardware, Crate & Barrel and Macy’s were great to work with. Though Macy’s was probably the most equipped to handle the occasion, we’re very satisfied with all those who helped us.

Here are all the details and links to our registries.
