We had a blast and pictures are in!

June 12th, 2007 by wedding

Thanks to everyone. Sally and I had the best time. Better than we could have possibly imagined. You were all an important part of our special time. We wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to our parents, our families and our wedding party. You were all a great help.

We also wanted to thank our wedding coordinator, Breelyn Bomba. She was (and is) fantastic. Always cool under pressure, Breelyn made sure our night went as we dreamed…and it did. If you ever need her services, she can be found at Tres Chic Events. Thanks Breelyn!

Have you seen better flowers at a wedding?!?! Mindy Wiseman truly outdid herself. She captured the mood, the love and the beauty of the Kentucky landscape with her top notch style. Thank you so much Mindy. If you ever need Mindy’s services, just send us and email and we’ll get you in touch.

Masterson’s provided great food and great staff. We’ll gladly use them for any future events we have.

The Seelbach Hotel is the cat’s meow. Thank you to their staff and their accommodations. It’s our favorite place to stay while in Louisville.

The amazing pictures are in and ready for purchase as well. Eric Graf is one talented photographer. We’re so happy he captured the evening just how we remember it. He is a must have for all Louisville weddings, parties, events…any and all needing a photographer. You’re the best Eric!

Are You Ready?!?!

May 10th, 2007 by ryan

Just two weeks away and we can’t wait to see everyone. Here’s some additional information to make sure everyone has the important details. Welcomes packets will be available at the Seelbach Hotel and the Seelbach will be our “home base.”

We’ve booked a charter bus for travel to and from the wedding site. For those in need, it will be arriving at the Hilton Seelbach at 4:45pm on Saturday. The bus will be leaving the hotel at 5:00pm to ensure on time arrival for everyone. All wedding party members will be contacted individually regarding more specific transportation details.

We’re also planning a day at the races on Sunday for those interested. Nothing says Louisville like a visit to the world’s most famous racetrack. We have tables reserved and we’ll be traveling from the Seelbach to Churchill Downs at 11:30am via public transportation. My mom, Terrye, has assured us it’s the way to go, so bring your handicapping charts and your best luck!

Any other questions? Feel free to contact us via our email form, http://wedding.shakerdesigns.com/contact/. Travel safe and see you soon.

Love, Ryan and Sally

Only in Kentucky

April 21st, 2007 by sally

As most of you know, the wedding has a distinctly vintage and southern theme. I mentioned this theme to one of my more adventurous aunts (wink wink Joan), and she asked if I would mind if she sported one of her finest derby hats to the wedding. Well, this created quite a frenzy among my Kentucky relatives, and now I am requesting and encouraging all of our guests to feel free to sport their finest hat to the wedding. Honestly, when else will you have the opportunity to wear an outrageous hat and feel right at home? I can think of no better occasion for such attire than a summer wedding at an antebellum plantation on the banks of the Ohio River. Don’t know what a “derby hat” is? Here is a link hatsandveils.net

Also, the entire ceremony and reception will take place in a field of clover. While this is incredibly romantic, it is not conducive to spike heels, so bring your wedges and your flip flops! See you soon :)

Get on the bus!

April 16th, 2007 by ryan

We’ve got transportation. With the help of Julie, Sally’s sister, we’ve booked not only the transportation for the wedding party, but also a bus seating 55! Woo hoo! The bus will travel to Riverside from the Seelbach Hotel prior to the ceremony and then back to the hotel after the reception.

Lots of updates!

April 10th, 2007 by ryan

We’re about 6 weeks away now and we have lots to share!

All invitations went out about 2 weeks ago. If you know you’re supposed to get an invite, but have yet to receive one, please let us know. It’s been quite nice getting all the replies back in the mail. We’re averaging about 5-7 a day, which makes us wonder if we’ll have mail depression post-wedding. :)

We also scored the “DJ” for the event. Instead of using a live band or Disc Jockey, we’ve decided to use an iPod and the Ion Audio iPA03. From Ion’s website:

Whether it’s an outdoor party, gig, business meeting or sporting event, the iPA03 portable speaker system is the perfect mobile solution for traveling musicians, entertainers and event coordinators. With a long-lasting rechargeable battery, sturdy aluminum construction and portable design, the iPA03 can be taken anywhere and everywhere. Featuring a high-efficiency amplifier with four inputs for connecting microphones, instruments, CD/MP3 players, and a docking station for iPods, the iPA03 is sure to make your next mobile event a success.

All I can say is, “This thing is AMAZING!” Everyone should own one! It’s about the size of carry on luggage, but the sound that comes from the machine is more like a live concert. Very cool. It’s equipped with additional outlets, should I need to plug in an extra amp or guitar and comes with a microphone. Even if we’re without electricity, the amp carries a 6 hour battery charge to keep the party going, which is exactly what we’re going for. Here’s a picture:

We’re also announcing plans for a visit to the races at Churchill Downs the day after the wedding, Sunday the 27th. For those who don’t know, my father Jack is a horse breeder/owner/trainer and my family has been involved with horses for most of my life. We’re planning on obtaining a room at the track, so everyone can enjoy the races together.

Transportation update: We’ll be booking a large bus to travel from the Seelbach hotel to Riverside, then back to the hotel after the reception. For those who need transportation, we’re hoping this will solve any problems. For those staying at the Seelbach, the hotel does offer free shuttle service to and from the airport as well.

If anyone has any other questions or concerns, please let us know. We’ll be glad to help. We can’t wait to see everyone and we’re really looking forward to sharing our day with you soon.

Coordinator to the rescue!

March 9th, 2007 by ryan

While Sally was in Louisville a few weeks ago, she had the opportunity to meet with a couple different wedding coordinators. While all were great, she really felt a connection with one in particular. We’re pleased to have hired the services of Breelyn J. Bomba of Très Chic Events. It will be nice to know our wedding will be in her hands during the week prior and day of.

For anyone looking, Breelyn can be found on the web at www.treschicevents.net.
